News - Smeg launches new Victoria Traditional Range Cooker Archive

Monday, December 10th 2012

Smeg has been manufacturing range cookers since 1948 and, inspired by the very first ‘Elizabeth’ model is the brand new Victoria Traditional RangeCooker.

The dual fuel cooker is 110cm wide and features a multifunction main oven and auxiliary oven, both offering conventional and fan cooking.  They each have a generous 63 litre net capacity, 4 shelf positions and feature side opening doors.

In addition, there is a separate 41 litre fully variable grill for controllable closed door grilling on two levels, as well as a convenient pullout storage drawer for pans and baking trays.

The digital electronic programmer with clock allows the user to select cooking start and stop times and the metal control knobs are designed to be easy and comfortable to use, even for those with hand dexterity difficulties.

All cooking cavities, including the grill compartment, have easy clean enamel interiors and an enamel roof liner above the top heating element, which prevents the top of the oven from getting soiled and is removable for easy cleaning.

The main oven also features the Vapor Clean programme which uses steam to loosen deposits in the oven interior, after which the cavity can simply be wiped clean.  The oven doors are triple glazed for optimum insulation, ensuring that the outside of the doors remain cool and the grill compartment has a solid door with internal double glazing.  The surface of the glass is completely flat and is easily removed to facilitate cleaning.

The unique forced air cooling system also helps to keep the door temperature extremely low, and it remains in operation after cooking has finished and the oven switched off, so as to dissipate the heat which has accumulated inside it.

The flexible gas hob has 7 variable power burners including a large, high power wok burner.  A stainless steel teppanyaki grill plate is included as a standard accessory, which can be placed over two burners for direct contact cooking.

If necessary, the hob can also be converted for use with LPG where a mains gas supply is not available.

The gloss black enamel upstand behind the hob carries Smeg’s signature 1950’s retro branding which ensures that it coordinates perfectly with the wide range of 50’s style retro refrigeration, dishwashing and washing machines and flue less wall mounted gas fires.

The ‘Victoria’ range cooker is AA rated for energy efficiency and comes in two traditional enamel finishes, Cream (TR4110P) or Gloss Black (TR4110BL), and is available immediately.

A short video highlighting the main features and benefits of the new ‘Victoria’ traditional range cooker can be viewed by visiting  http://www.smeguk.com/news/smeg-launches-tr4110-traditional-range-cooker/   A 4 page leaflet is also available.

Joan Fraser, Product Development and Training Manager for Smeg UK says, ‘The Victoria is a hugely important introduction to our range cooker offering.  We've been working on developing this product for several years, holding regular consumer focus groups to allow them the opportunity to have a valuable input into the product development process.  We needed to find out what they disliked about the range cooker they currently own, establish what they really wanted from a traditional range cooker and take on board their feature preferences.  Working closely with the factory in Italywe were able to incorporate many of their suggestions in the final design.  Now it’s here we expect it to do very well for us.

Most of our range cookers have a rather more contemporary aesthetic and the introduction of the new traditional range cooker is aiming to draw in new business from the more traditional sector of the market.  It is priced extremely competitively for such a high quality, highly specified cooker which makes it is a hugely attractive proposition.’
