News - Dornbracht at Sleep Event

Tuesday, December 11th 2012

The name Dornbracht is synonymous with high-quality, well designed fittings and accessories for the bathroom and is the brand of choice for hoteliers, developers, designers and architects in the know. Following 2010/11’s hugely successful participation at The Sleep Event – which showcases design, development and architecture for the hospitality industry across the globe – Dornbracht returned to the show in 2012.

“Sleep 2012 will mark the third consecutive year that Dornbracht have participated in this lively and successful trade fair. We enjoyed enormous success at The Sleep Event in 2010/11 and as such we have increased our commitment in 2012. We look forward to another fruitful year of engaging with architects, designers and hoteliers.” Mark Booth, Sales & Marketing Director, Dornbracht UK

Dornbracht’s involvement in this year’s show was twofold. All the newest, most avant garde bathroom products on the mezzanine level at stand M29A, a new location for Dornbracht this year. In addition to the stand, Dornbracht also partnered with Yasmine Mahmoudieh to produce a 5* boutique hotel room in the Sleepotel. The scheme reflected Yasmine's unique holistic approach to design which merges human psychology, cutting-edge technology and alternative materials through the intense intertwining of natural and cultural environments.

Deque

Deque's contrasts stand out, the juxtaposition of the gentle flow of water with the severity of the fitting's form and the contrast of the planar projection and the cylindrical control elements – a form that is particularly evident in the single-lever mixer. Precise geometric forms depict a monolithic landscape of chrome and matte black. From washbasin to bath tub, from shower to deck-mounted, the different sources of water supply a flow that ties the different delivery forms of water together architecturally. It is not the architecture that unites the different water sources with one another, but rather the water itself that acts as the element uniting the architecture.

SELV

The name SELV, is an appropriation of the word ‘self’. The name underscores the openness of the range’s aesthetic and its ability to slide into different worlds of style. In keeping with the ethos of 'Design yourself!' or 'Express yourself!', the name puts an emphasis on individual design ideas specific to the user, architect or interior designer, rather than the fitting itself.

SELV fittings are characterised by a design aesthetic that prioritises well-being. Gentle, tactile forms submit to surroundings whether the interior be pure and modern or classically inspired. This is a self-assured product that works as it should. SELV is a complete product range with matching accessories, in chrome and platinum matt finishes. The product was designed by Sieger Design.

Horizontal Shower

With the Horizontal Shower, for the first time Dornbracht’s Ambiance Tuning Technique’s (ATT) therapeutic benefits can be enjoyed lying down. Dornbracht is expanding the act of showering by offering a unique way experience that harnesses natural elements and water. With this application, Dornbracht is once again is pushing boundaries in bathroom design. The Horizontal Shower combines six WaterBars recessed in a bulkhead above the individual. Just like the other applications in the ATT range, various flow types can be combined using pre-programmed choreographies of water temperature and intensity to create a balanced, invigorating or relaxing water experience. The shower is controlled using the central eTool controls located near the user’s head – making it convenient to operate whilst lying down. The user can enjoy the Horizontal Shower lying on their front or back. The reclining surface is heatable. The Horizontal Shower can be used both in private and public spas, and is a therapeutic product aimed at sustained wellbeing.
