News - New Kitchen & Bathroom Training Courses Archive

Friday, February 10th 2012

Brand new courses outlining the Principles of Kitchen and Bathroom Design coupled with in depth Project Management have been added to EQ Software’s professional training portfolio. Working closely with the KBB National Training Group (NTG) and the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA), EQ has developed the brand new two day courses aimed at professional kitchen and bathroom designers as well as new entrants into the market.

Day one guides delegates through the sale process from taking an initial client brief, preparing an accurate survey and creating a working plan to presenting a design. Also, creating an awareness of the latest building regulations, design trends and techniques coupled with practical sessions.

Day two enables delegates to effectively manage their projects from the quoting stage to successful completion and customer sign off. From initially building the quotation, delegates learn how to professionally create and manage project milestones, track profit margins, control installation timelines and handle all the invoicing and payments. After completing the two day course, successful attendees will be awarded an industry recognised certificate which is accredited by the National Training Group and Bathroom Academy.

Delighted with the news, Renee Mascari, CEO of the NTG comments “The courses are a culmination and integration of many years experience and expertise between the NTG, BMA and EQ Software. Coupling the principles of design with project management into a two day course is a fantastic opportunity for designers to engage in more formal training. While historically many new entrants learn their skills on the job; these courses are a terrific foundation to build on their own continual professional development programme”.

A view echoed by BMA Chief Executive Yvonne Orgill who champions the development between the organisations “The BMA have long been recommending professional training for anyone in the bathroom industry. The courses run by EQ are just what we need to encourage best practise and raise skills in an industry that has had its fair share of bad press over the last few years. We fully support this initiative and hope delegates on the course will want to further their formal education in bathroom studies with the Bathroom Academy”.

Graham Ball, Chief Executive of the KBSA adds further endorsement to the courses run by EQ Software and comments “Training is a vital part of any designer’s professional portfolio and the KBSA will recommend these courses to our members. With £60m worth of formal complaints recorded in figures from the OFT about kitchens and bathrooms, some of these will be down to poor design or specification, and not simply installation, so these courses should help reduce overall complaints. EQ has taken the bull by its horns and brought these elements together to produce and promote an essential tool to help raise standards in the industry”.

EQ Software has been training users of its software package since the company inception nearly 12 years ago and is hugely experienced in developing and delivering their professionally accredited courses. Excited at the prospect Jason Richards, Operations Director at EQ notes “This has been a long time coming and has taken a great deal of planning and preparation, but we are now ready to roll out these courses. EQ couldn’t possibly have done this without the great support shown by Yvonne and Renee. We believe the combination works well and will look to refresh the courses each year to keep them bang up to date“.

The first Kitchen Design Principles & Project Management two day course will be held at EQ Software’s head office in Tamworth, Tuesday and Wednesday 17th & 18th April 2012. While the inaugural Bathroom Design Principles and Project Management is at EQ on Wednesday and Thursday 2nd & 3rd May 2012. Courses have a maximum of 6 delegates and are booked through EQ Software.
