News - Falmec release 6 new extractors to E.ion System Archive

Monday, October 1st 2012

Six new extractor models have been released by premium Italian cooker hood manufacturer, Falmec, as part of its latest E.ion System range.

The modern and quirky extractors not only remove cooking odour, grease and steam, but use ionisation technology to purify the air.

What is ionisation?

Ionisation is a natural process of air purification whereby charged particles in the air called ions destroy pollutants, bacteria, viruses and allergens as well as removing odours.

According to the World Health Organisation, fresh air must have a balance of positively and negatively charged ions, and scientific tests have proven that a balance of ions is beneficial to our health and wellbeing.  Concentration and breathing are improved and the air is sanitised from pollutants and viruses that can harm our immune system.

Ionisation and the E.ion System

This process has been replicated within the E.ion System cooker hoods, which use bipolar ionisation technology to generate and stabilise the balance of ions in the air.  This effectively cleans the air for a healthier, fresher kitchen environment in addition to being highly effective at removing cooking odour, grease and steam.

Certified independent laboratory studies by the Dynamic Olfactory Laboratory, an analysis and research agency at the University of Udine and Milan, show the E.ion System achieved a 70% reduction in odour and up to 95% in favourable conditions.  The same tests show that no CO2 is emitted.

Ionisation within the cooker hood is patented by Falmec – which means no other manufacturer is able to produce the same system.

Features

Falmec’s new E.ion System extractors are made using stainless steel and tempered glass.  The Twister and Marilyn models use specific materials – the Twister is aluminium with a titanium finish and the Marilyn is an individually crafted hood made from ceramic.

The E.ion System extractors have a sensor to detect when the air is impure.  This is shown by a leaf indicator on the front of the hoods which gradually turns from yellow to green as the air is purified.

There are three extraction levels and the 24 hour function offers round-the-clock pure air.  It switches on when the sensor detects pollutants and will continue to purify the air until the leaf sensor turns green.

Before it is expelled, air passes through a special combined carbon and zeolite filter (Carbon.Zeo) which helps to hold vapour, aid filtration and increase the purification capacity.  The carbon particles can be regenerated by dishwashing then heating in the oven at 100˚C.  This means the filer has a longer three year life rather than the recommended replacement of standard filters of every four months.

Design and efficiency benefits

Not only are the E.ion System extractors advanced in technology and elegant in design, they offer economical and design advantages.

The hoods are recirculating, which means there is no costly masonry work for ducting, and they don’t pump out the heat in winter while offering air conditioning in the summer.

Fixed to the ceiling via a plate and suspended from height-adjustable cables, the position of the E.ion System extractors is versatile as they can be placed anywhere in the room.

The six new models join the Zephiro and Lumière already released.  Future developments include a more traditional shape incorporating the E.ion System, which has a planned release in the early part of next year, and work is underway to produce wall-mounted versions.
